Located on Spirits Alley in Alameda, California you’ll find Runway Spirits. This craft cocktail bar is located inside a decommissioned WWII Naval Air Station hangar with sweeping views of the San Francisco bay and skyline.  But it’s not the authentic atmosphere and amazing vistas that keep people coming back, it’s the custom cocktails created by their talented bartenders. One of their most popular standards is the Ode to Rose. It’s a cool, floral, smooth glass of deliciousness. DaMarlynn has been a crowd favorite bartender at Runway Spirits and loves to shake up their menu each season. One of his winter creations is the Bentwing Bessie. As a brandy lover himself, DaMarlynn created a signature brandy-based cocktail that’s smooth and balanced with berries and stone fruit. Mission accomplished! The Bentwing Bessie is indeed a delicious cocktail. And the unique name? Bessie Coleman was an aviator and the first woman of African-American and Native-American descent to hold a pilot’s license.   • Ode To Rose
  • 2 oz Hangar 1 Rose Vodka
  • ¾ oz St Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • ½ oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Pour all ingredients in a cocktail tin, add ice and shake.
  • Strain into a cocktail glass
  • Garnish: lemon peel

 

 

  • Bentwing Bessie
  • 2 oz Hangar1 Bentwing Brandy
  • ½ oz St Vincent Raspberry Gomme
  • ½ oz Giffard Crème De Violette
  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Pour all ingredients in cocktail tin, add ice and shake.
  • Strain over ice in a rocks glass
  • Garnish: lemon slice, blackberry and mint sprig
