Back in the 1970s, The Love Boat, a US comedy/drama television series sent on a passenger cruise that made stops in Puerto Vallarta, promised viewers and passengers alike ‘love, exciting and new’ on a weekly basis. Decades later, cruise ships continue to dock in town on a regular basis and when it comes to love, let’s just say that being Mexico’s premier gay beach destination, there is always a lot of loving going on here! Given the fact that gay men have been finding creative ways to connect with, and love one another for centuries (vertically, horizontally, diagonally or in whatever position you prefer) you’d think all has been said on the subject.

However, here are some practical considerations you may want to keep in mind while visiting Puerto Vallarta .If you enjoy the bar/club scene, you’ll have over 25 locations to choose from, all within walking distance, so any night out is bound to offer countless opportunities to meet someone. Most of the action happens late at night, but some bars offer casual conversation early on, and several pool parties take place on a weekly basis at places such as Mantamar, Hotel Mercurio and Casa Cupula.

The gay beach (a section of Puerto Vallarta’s Los Muertos Beach) is also within walking distance. There are several spots to choose from where you can bury your feet in the sand while you entertain prospects, margarita in hand. If you are traveling solo, there is  always  that  awkward  moment when you  need to get up to go to the bathroom and you are worried about the belongings you left behind at your lounger. Just leave the fancy accessories at home and bring the bare necessities with you.

Of course, if you’re looking for love in the app places, Grinder is by far the most used app in town. It is used by many guys, including escorts, so keep this in mind. And speaking of escorts, you will find plenty of love for sale out and about. Just remember these are not necessarily professionals in their field, and while this may be a plus for you, negotiate with caution if you shop for love on the street. And if you want to find love for sale online, consider googling the website Mileroticos .

Other fun spots include: Wet Dreams, a fun bar in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone with the ORIGINAL shower show – have a cocktail, watch the hot guys shower behind the bar, and tip your favorites.  There is a backroom if you are feeling frisky.  Also located in the Romantic Zone, there is Spartacus Sauna, the largest gay sauna in Mexico with three floors, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, lockers, cabins, cold room, bar, pool, massage and much more. If you’ve found the love of your life (or your afternoon), and plan on bringing someone back to your hotel room/condo, expect non-gay hotels to refuse access to any non-registered guests, and don’t frown if gay hotels ask for IDs and such. It’s for your own safety! For all we know, you’ve met the most wonderful new friend(s), but we’ve heard stories nobody wants to admit happened to them, from disappearing iPhones to all sorts of calamities. If you are planning on bringing someone back to your abode, simply stash away your valuables before you leave in the first place. The bottom line is, use common sense, be aware of your surroundings and stay safe.  This is a standard mantra for travel anywhere in the world. To quote The Love Boat theme: Come aboard! We’re expecting you!
