You know him for being sly and witty on RuPaul’s Drag Race and hosting Canada’s Drag Race, but Jeffrey Bower-Chapman is playing a completely different role in Shudder’s new queer horror film ‘Spiral’. The Canadian actor and fashion model plays Malik, a father and husband who trades city life for small town living. But nothing is as it seems as something sinister lies behind the picturesque homes and welcoming faces of their new neighbors.

A horror film for the current age, ‘Spiral skillfully dissects themes of ostracization, otherness, and the cycles of societal rejection and hate, let by a breakout performance by Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. Moving to a new town can be exciting and frightening at the same time, especially when those living around may not approve of certain lifestyles. Most of us can relate to feeling judged by our sexual orientation, but in ‘Spiral’ it goes much deeper and darker than that.

The film is out now and can be watched at the premium streaming service shudder.com
