Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is rampant in our modern world, but there are often times men can fix their issues without pills, gels or those awful needles. It might take a little more effort, but in the long run, it will benefit you in health and in your wallet. One of the main issues with ED is the loss between mind and body.

One of the easiest and safest ways to reconnect with your penis is through meditation. Vipassana mediation seems to work best for my clients with ED. It is a form of mediation that comes from the Theravada branch of Buddhism. You start with a comfortable upright position (this can be in a chair, or cross-legged) and concentrate just on your breath going in and out of your nose. Feel the air change from cold to warm, feel the breath going into your lungs and back out. Once you get this down, start connecting to your body. Start with a small inch or two patch on your head and see if you can connect and feel it. Slowly work your way all through your body inches by inch. This can take upwards of 45 minutes or more. It can be hard to get started, but this technique is helping you feel every part of your body, YES this includes your sex organ. The goal is that you will start to feel your body and can go so deep that you will feel the blood and muscles in your penis. Then the next time you are feeling stressed and ED is starting to occur, you will be able to connect in away that you truly feel your penis and mentally can connect to the blood flow.

This brings us to “no -hands- approach” masturbation. This is similar to meditation, but instead of doing your whole body you just concentrate on your penis. This can be a good technique when used with porn (if you feel you have an addiction with porn, please skip this). While watching porn or reading erotica, see if you can connect to your penis without touching it. As you get more excited your penis gets harder (even if it is not a rock, you are looking for the slightest firmness to start with). Feel the blood flow, feel things building up. Do not take any action but see how far you can get without touching. Some men can come without touching, most do not. However, this is a great exercise to see how much you can build on everyday. Consistency is key to this one.

If you have checked with your doctor and all the test have come back negative to any psychical alignments, and you are still having ED issues, a certified hypnotherapist can help you overcome that feeling of dread some men get. Once you are in your head and are having performance anxiety, it all goes down hill from there. Hypnotherapy  works with your subconscious mind and imprints (in your own words) what you want to be in the bedroom. Some suggestions I’ve come across as with my clients are “I want to be a stud”, “I want to be rock hard”, “I am in control of my penis”.  An added mantra is a good tool to use in conjunction with hypnotherapy. The idea of a mantra is not to lie to yourself, but to “fake it until you make.” What happens with daily mantra practice is one day you wake up and that mantra has become truth.

Lastly check your diet. I have found through my sex coaching that a large precent of men who have ED drink an enormous amount of Diet Coke. Over half of them see significant improvements within ten days of cutting out Diet Coke. And “Whiskey Dick” is well known phrase for a reason. If you are a heavy drinker cut back on your alcohol consumption immediately. You have to make a choice is alcohol more important than sex? .Starting with some of these basic techniques should help you if there is nothing physically wrong. Not everything works for everyone, but it is good to have a few tools in  your tool box for your favorite tool.

*Please make sure you check with your doctor before you go off any medications.
