White Party DJ Spotlight: MARTI FRIESON

Frieson started his career in 2018, debuting at the legendary Rich’s Houston nightclub where he is now based. Since his debut, Marti’s career has been consistently ascending, holding two residencies in two different cities: Houston (DNVRMX) and Miami (Score). You can also find him regularly on the roster for Industry Night Club and Mantamar at the most iconic gay beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. “I’m very passionate about things on stage and also behind the scenes.  Both careers – DJing and producing/promoting – have grown exponentially since I first started and I’m really proud to share with everyone the community that we’ve grown here in Houston with my brand @dnvrmx,” says Frieson in a recent interview with GED Magazine. 

“This will be my WPPS Debut!” exclaims Frieson. “I’ve always heard amazing things from friends that have attended over the years but never had that chance to attend as a guest. I’m definitely grateful to be a part of this year’s lineup. I’m planning on staying after my set at SOAKED! Pool Party on Friday, May 12^th at the Hilton Hotel Palm Springs, to enjoy the weekend and get the full experience.”

Frieson’s sound is fresh, unique, and current, inspired from where you might least expect – film, hip hop, and pop culture. “I love playing tracks that have a fun and distinct beat or vibe. I usually balance this out with some moments of vocal remixes that everyone knows the word and can sing a long too.”

He is determined to be distinguished from other artists and is not afraid to push the boundaries of the genre. “My personal sound is completely different than other DJs because I take genuine joy in playing for the crowd. Each set of mine is unique because I’m sharing the moment with the audience that’s there. It’s not about me at all. It’s about the moment, the crowd, and the type of party we’re all at together. I take all that into account and then deliver my set with my interpretation. A lot of other DJs preplan their sets, which is safer and an lot easier, but for me almost everything is decided in the moment and organically – that’s what works best.”

Frieson recently played in Mykonos and Rio, and says it was a dream come true. He is looking forward to continuing his travels around the world and visiting Palm Springs.

Frieson’s physique obviously shows he visits the gym several times a week. His free time during the week is spent training, with short and intense sessions lasting about an hour. “I try to do my light cardio and abs in the morning to be productive and get my day started early. I like to do my weight training at night when the gym isn’t as busy. And a hot tub visit post-workout is a must.”

Frieson says to get ready for his White Party set, where he will be giving you all the circuit beats while throwing in his own flavor.
