As part of GED’s ongoing cabaret series, we are excited to announce Unsung Midler at Oscar’s Downtown Palm Springs on Thursday, January 27th at 7 pm, featuring country music recording artist Kasey Lansdale and on-air personality Alexander Rodriguez.

Enjoy an evening of storytelling and song with country music recording artist Kasey Lansdale and on-air personality Alexander Rodriguez as they celebrate the lesser-known music from Bette Midler’s extensive career, including songs from The Rose, For the Boys, Beaches, and more – all with their unique spin and vocal blend.

Singer-songwriter Kasey Lansdale has gone from small-town Texas girl, composing music from the age of seven, to recording her music with Grammy Award-winning producer John Carter Cash, who has produced legends such as Loretta Lynn, George Jones, and Willie Nelson. She successfully performed both nationally and internationally at large events and festivals such as SXSW, the Halogaland Music Festival in Norway, and The Piacenza Blues Festival in Italy.

In addition to her music, Kasey is an accomplished storyteller, first published at the tender age of eight by Random House, and is the author of several short stories and novellas, along with publications from Harper Collins, Titan Books, & others.

Unsung Midler will be an opportunity for Kasey to incorporate her storytelling with the expansion of her musical talents beyond country music, having recorded Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” with The Oceanaries. “I couldn’t be more excited to hit the stage with my dear friend Alexander. Not only because I adore him and think Unsung Midler will be tons of fun, but because now more than ever, after the forced hiatus from performing, it will be even more special.”

Although best known for his podcast On the Rocks with Alexander, and his journalism for GED and Metrosource Magazines, Alexander Rodriguez has had an extensive music career, having performed his varied cabaret shows at Rockwell Table & Stage with singing appearances at Don’t Tell Mama in NY and LA, Segerstrom Center for the Arts with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and The Roxy in Hollywood, with numerous musical theatre roles in Into the Woods, Camelot, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, and more. This performance will mark his first return to the scene as a singer in over three years. “As any good gay boy did, I would listen to the music of Bette Midler over and over. Her energy, her confidence, her wit, and her storytelling through song are all things that inspire me. Being able to celebrate some of her great songs that might be less known, and with the artful interpretations through Kasey’s talents and voice, definitely make this a show to bring me back to the world of music. I can’t wait.”

Billboard Magazine has called Kasey’s music “infectious,” and “mesmerizing” and The Los Angeles Times has hailed Alexander as “a truly gifted singer.” Come spend an evening under the stars, celebrating the Divine Miss M.
