For gay, lesbians, bisexuals and anyone who lives a life that not everyone fully accepts yet, travel can sometimes be difficult depending on your wants and lifestyle. Many in the LGBQT community have to take special considerations when traveling for both safety and fun reasons. Plus, most want to try and spend money in places that are welcoming and inclusive.

Traveling can be good for both your love and sex life. It can help you relax, find new parts of yourself and reconnect to perhaps an older part of you. Whether you are single or a couple, traveling can open a whole new world to you.

Not everyone reading this is out, but everyone can explore their true self when not confined in their everyday life or surroundings. While away from home, those that are still closeted enjoy the freedom of holding hands with someone of the same sex or freedom from worrying they might run into a family member or someone from work while wearing a leather jockstrap.

Going to places such as Las Vegas can be fun and full of depravity and good food. One of the best reasons to go to a big city full of entertainment and bright colors is that in these places, like Las Vegas, most people are too much into their own sins to care about what others might be doing. There is a freedom in not giving a damn, in a huge anonymous way. In addition to the anonymity, there are sex dungeons, swingers’ clubs and a variety of sex clubs to visit. Bigger places aimed at over the top festivities, pride themselves on finding something for everyone. However, do your research prior to travel, because some clubs require membership and others can be a little tricky to find. A good rule of thumb is to tip your concierge or valet for a little extra help in finding the true underground wild places.

As a couple or single, events aimed at your specific lifestyle are wonderful treats. for the ladies there are wonderful festivals in the tradition of Lilith Fair but smaller and more intimate. Brandi Carlisle just threw a ‘Girls Just Wanna Weekend’ in Mexico that was sold out. It featured other artists and included hotel, food, and lesbians as far as the naked eye can see. Dinah Weekend is another women’s yearly festival. Hosted by Club Skirts, Dinah is another safe, fun way to meet other couples or singles looking for a fun time.

For you men out there, there are wonderful weekend parties in Palm Springs where you can go pick up an addition to your coupling or just hang out and watch all the beautiful bodies dance and move… events such as White Party, Leather Pride or Palm Springs s Pride. Again, these are safe fun weekends where you can meet others and let your flag (whether, pride or freak) fly as high as you want.

There are also more options like Atlantis and Olivia cruises or Celebrity cruise lines that offer legal gay marriage, just in case your backwards state has not allowed you the same human rights (talking to you Texas). These cruises can be romantic and fun and allow you to be free in your sexuality and feel true pride in who you are.

If you are wanting something truly relaxed and all-inclusive (and where you can go au-naturel), then go to Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica. The Hotel Villa Roca is a hidden gem where men can go hiking on nature trails, horseback riding, and white-water rafting. It is a gay paradise that is owned and operated by gay men. And of course, there is Gay Puerto Vallarta, which you can read all about in GED Latino every month!

Whatever you are want to do, or whoever you want to do, when taking a vacation, remember to research and that the money you are spending does matter, so it is best to support LGBQT friendly places and resorts. Also, it doesn’t hurt to talk to your friends about where they enjoy going. Every place in this article was recommended to be by friends, family and baristas.
