This past weekend’s house and disco music festival, spanning three days and three resorts, definitely brought out great people and positive vibes. Kicking off Friday June 9th at the After Hours at the Palm Springs Air Museum was DJ Aaron Aldorisio (AA), founder of Dry Heat PS, a dance party for the light hearted and physically inclined, which brings the queer underground to the Coachella Valley. Following DJ AA, was Hedi Lawden and Masha Mar, who set the stage for Purple Disco Machine.

California based Lawden was inspired by London’s club and rave scene as a teen and has worked in the world of dance music ever since.  She combines House, Techno and synth-laden Disco to create a world of her own. In doing so, Lawden has gained the respect and admiration of her peers through her knowledge, style, and infectious excitement for the global dance music community.

Lawden’s set included DJing with Masha Mar, who is known to move and groove dancefloors into a unique journey of feelings though her mix of Dance, House, and Electro beats.

Friday night’s headliner, Grammy winner and contemporary king of disco, Purple Disco Machine, has become one of the most recognizable artists on the international music scene, appealing to many different people with his unique disco spin. The #2 Best-Selling Beatport Artist of all time, PDM is known as a “go-to remixer” for some of the top artists in the world, including Dua Lipa, Sir Elton John, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. PDM was awarded the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Remix Performance for his take on Lizzo’s ‘It’s About Damn Time’, which truly represents the significance he has played in catapulting disco back into the mainstream.

Saturday’s headliners included Purple Disco Machine, Dennis Ferrer, and Cloonee. Sunday’s headliners included The Knocks, Chromeo, Green Velvet and Grammy nominated Armand Van Helden.  Van Helden started DJing professionally at age 14, and in over 30 years in music, has remixed songs for Janet Jackson, Daft Punk, Tori Amos, the Rolling Stones, Vanessa Williams, and others.

While temperatures were cooler than normal in Palm Springs, this did not prevent any partygoers from attending the 10th Anniversary festivities poolside, bringing out a diverse crowd with a common love of music. Get ready for August, because it really heats up!
