Thanks to Drag Race Season 10’s Monique Heart, the phrase “brown cow stunning” has officially been added to the Urban Dictionary.  Simply put, it means something is extra gorgeous, extra stunning…and girl, Monique is all that and more and she’s got a lot to say.  She has been quoted by Rihanna and Lizzo and during COVID launched her debut podcast, Ace of Hearts.  Each week, with the help of her most-stunning friends, Monique breaks down the week’s headlines and offers a deep dive on topics like politics, sex, and money.

Brown cow stunning was almost not to be, Monique has ready to hang her heels up after an unsuccessful first audition for Drag Race.  Not only did she appear on Season 10, but she also won runner up on Drag Race: All Stars and made an appearance on the first-ever RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race.  She has used her Drag Race platform to share her own music, including the viral hit single, Brown Cow Stunning.

Monique, aka Kevin Richardson, started her drag career at Hamburger Mary’s performing at bingos and Sunday Brunches.  Her coming out is a whopper of a story, she came out at age 17 while working at Burger King.  Not only can she read her fellow Queens up and down, but she can also read you on the Bible after having studied it thoroughly at the International House of Prayer University.  She has found Jesus, and she has found her voice…she’s got a lot of heart.

We had a quick chat with Monique in between her podcast sessions:

You realized you were gay while working at Burger King??? Tell me that story!

It was just an epiphany while working at Burger King after years of having sex with men and praying the gay away. It just finally hit me, my aha moment, but it was nothing that I could live openly or find safety in.

You studied the Bible in school…what part of the Bible should we all read more?

The Gospels – Matthew Mark, Luke, and John.

You did not get cast on Drag Race the first year you auditioned, what did you change for the audition tape that finally got you cast?

I really don’t know; I think I just showed more acting and more comedy.

You hosted the Pink Carpet for the Wowie Awards last year…what are your tips for being the perfect hostess of a red carpet?

It helps to be quick witted, have the gift of gab, be personable and likeable, and like Miranda Priestly, have someone in your ear to feed you the names of the people you’re smiling at.

How are you the person, most different than Monique Heart the persona?

Kevin is more of an extreme introvert.

What is your fondest memory from Drag Race?

Almost winning All Stars!

What challenge would you add to Drag Race?

Naked and Afraid: Drag queen style. Or drag queens bungee jumping.

How did your DMs change from appearing on Drag Race?

No one slid into them. There’s still time, hint hint.

Tell me about your new podcast!

Ace of Hearts is a podcast that means a lot to me. We talk about self-love, self-preservation, self-help. We go through the hottest topics of the week.

What have you learned the most about yourself from creating your podcast?

It is great to get a perspective from different guests each week to provide a point of view I wouldn’t have known before.

How are you the most different than any other Queen?

I am who I am, and there is no one like me.

What has been your biggest onstage mishap?

My wig coming off on Drag Race.

Have you ever hooked up with a fan?

I would never kiss and tell!
