Palm Springs is known as one of, if not the, gayest cities on earth. Well the city just solidified that #1 spot with Southern California’s first and only luxury, 55+ active adult community designed for the LGBTQ community. Living Out commemorated their debut in the desert with a Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting with a guest list made of prominent community members including former Senator Barbara Boxer, Palm Springs Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein, Joe Hollendoner (CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center), and Mike Thompson (CEO of LGBT Community Center of the Desert), among others. The event kicked off in the pool with an entertaining synchronized swimming performance by The Water Lillies and continued with songs from the Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus. Guests were delighted with delightful bites and drinks from onsite restaurant Alice B, under the direction of renowned chefs and restaurateurs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken.

The Living Out team is made up of Loren Ostrow, Paul Alanis, Richard Delaney, and LuAnn Boylan who all collectively share a common goal, and that is to provide a safe space for a community they care so deeply for.

One of the people behind this new development, Loren Ostrow, states “Knowing that too many LGBTQ seniors live in unsafe or even openly hostile environments, we wanted to address this issue that is near and dear to us. We have done so by creating a safe and beautiful community that meets the unique needs of our seniors as we begin the next chapter of our lives.”

With that in mind, the team has created a welcoming environment for its tenants with incredible art displayed on every wall, all created from LGBTQ+ artists and available for purchase. Alice B, the desert’s newest upscale restaurant is one of the first sights you’ll see when you enter the main doors. The restaurant is warm inviting space of contemporary design and desert colors and includes a full bar and outside patio.

Spread over nine acres in the heart of Palm Springs, Living Out offers resort style living with a state-of-the-art fitness center, massage studio, private hair, manicure and pedicure salon, screening room, community, game, and card rooms and even an art studio. The experience is topped off with a sparkling pool and spas, dog park, and a grass putting green. A retail pet supply store, Tailwaggers, provides pet grooming services, pet day care and an overnight pet hotel, and is open to the public.

Congratulations to the City of Palm Springs, Living Out, and its residents on this wonderful new property. If you’d like to call Living Out home, simply visit livingout.com or call 833-548-3688 to schedule an appointment to view the property.

Hello, GED. My name is Alberto Acosta, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of Ancient Wonders (MoAW) and founder along with my colleague, Joseph McCabe, of the LGBTQ+ World History Museum in Palm Springs. As a curator for more than 30 years, I moved to the Palm Springs area to retire my former traveling exhibitions to create museum diversity by forming MoAW with exhibitions that focus on the worlds of ancient civilization and prehistoric life with a rich inventory of exhibitions that I commissioned and created. In addition, I am in the process of forming the LGBTQ+ World History Museum which will chronicle 10,000 years of LGBTQ history. I would like to meet with your journalists to tell this unique story. You may reach me at the museum at (442) 268-5004 or my cell at (760) 702-2045. Thank you in advance for your interest and kind consideration.
