LA Pride’s theme for 2021 is Thrive with Pride, and not only highlights health and wellness as we slowly emerge from the pandemic but underscores the belief that thriving is an act of social justice within the LGBTQ+ community, especially for our underserved or overlooked members. When we live with a sense of belonging, confidence, security, and self-worth, we are not just surviving, we are thriving. “To thrive means to flourish and progress despite the circumstances. Pride this year is a moment for you to stop and breathe,” said Sharon-Franklin Brown, CSW Board of Directors President. “It’s a moment to remember you’re not just surviving one of the hardest years in recent memory but growing into your truth. If we as a community can come together, even for a moment, to realize we’ve broken down some barriers put on us, it’ll strengthen our resolve to continue tearing more down for those to come after us.”

LA Pride just added two outdoor, in-person events to its monthlong “Thrive with Pride” June calendar. LA Pride goers will be able to celebrate Pride in-person at two events on June 11 and June 26.

The first in-person event for LA Pride since 2019 will be June 11 with longtime community partner, the World Series-winning Los Angeles Dodgers, to host the very popular LGBTQ+ Pride Night at Dodger Stadium on Friday, June 11th. An LGBTQ+ artist will sing the National Anthem, First Responders from the LA LGBTQ+ Community will get a special moment of recognition, and after the game, vaccinated fans will be welcomed onto the field to watch the first Friday Night Fireworks show of the season. A special event ticket package is available to fully vaccinated fans that includes a game ticket for the 7:10 p.m. game against the Texas Rangers and an exclusive Dodger Pride-themed t-shirt. Tickets at www.dodgers.com/LAPride.

The second confirmed in-person event represents a new collaboration with Cinespia, the producers of the legendary Hollywood Forever Cemetery outdoor movies, for their LGBTQ+ Pride Movie Night at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday, June 26th. All ticketed events will be accessible for individuals using wheelchairs or walking aids. Accessible restrooms and parking will also be available at each venue. Each event will have its own separate ticketed capacity restrictions, COVID-19 safety protocol and guest regulations.

“It was always our intention to offer our community opportunities to safely celebrate Pride together in accordance with safety guidelines by both the CDC and Los Angeles County,” said Brown. “We know our community wants to be together, and we want to do everything we can to create these moments. Therefore, we’re providing other larger capacity, outdoor entertainment for all ages of our community.”

These in-person events are in addition to the Thrive with Pride live-streamed TikTok concert with Charli XCX, the ABC-7 televised special and the monthlong Pride Makes a Difference philanthropic volunteer/donate activation.
