Keisha D has been entertaining in the Coachella Valley for over two decades. I had a chance to sit down with Keisha in between her Monday nights at the “Purple Room” and a private party gig for a long-time client. Soulful and strong she has sung it all – from churches, community events, small parties, to very large concert hall venues and festivals. She was recently voted OUTstanding Female Vocalist, by over 3,000 voters, in the First Annual OUTstanding Awards from GED Magazine! Her list of accomplishments is endless.

Keisha D was born and raised in Hollywood, California and she moved to the valley (Palm Springs) in 2008, when she scored her first audition for “Open Call” at the McCallum Theatre, taking the title “Best Vocalist.” Keisha is influenced by Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. Have you heard her version of “These Boots Are Made for Walking?” Keisha is loved for her amazing designer dresses, frequently showcasing Aneka Brown’s Designs, and over the top hairstyles. She loves to put a bit of drama and theatrics into her shows, as inspired by Lady Gaga, Cher and some of our well know local drag queens.

She frequently appears at Bella da Ball’s “Lip Stick Show” at Copa Night Club and Anita Treadmill’s “Diva’s on the Dance Floor” at Trunks Bar in Cathedral City. And you don’t want to miss when she is accompanied by her trio around town. Keisha has been most inspired by her father Larry and her husband Dan of 17 years. Electric and exciting, Keisha fills a room with music, joy and love, and she is working out details for a special scholarship program, which she will be announcing soon. Kiesha sends a  warm thank you to the LGBTQ community for all the love and fond moments, as she prepares for her next gig to make you groove.  Look for Keisha at LGBT Days Parking Lot Party! And be sure to follow ‘Keisha D Sings’ on Facebook.
