Hello Doug and Derek! You guys have quite an impressive history and wear a few hats, as DJ’s, Producers, and Remixers. How did you get started on this journey?

Our parents are musicians and got us into music, basically from when we were born. When we were kids, we fell in love with dance music and would pretend we were DJs. Once we were in high-school we started DJ’ing at parties, and then in college started doing dance mix-shows on radio stations. From there we started getting booked into clubs.

Since then, we have gone on to perform for audiences at the hottest clubs from Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco, to New York City, Vancouver, and Montreal, and many points in between. We have also gotten the opportunity to play at parties and festivals all over the world including White Party Bangkok, White Party Palm Springs, Ascension Fire Island, Winter Party Miami, NYC Pride Pier Dance, Burning Man, Wonderworld Orlando, Purple Party Dallas, Madrid’s Infinita and Ski Weeks in Telluride, Mammoth, and Crested Butte.

Is there a difference in music style and dance music culture when you play in in other countries?

There used to be more of a difference than there is now. It used to seem like outside of the US, dance music was way more popular but that changed when EDM started to become mainstream here. Now I think people in the US are just as into dance music as in other countries which is awesome.

You guys are unique in the fact that you are identical twins.  Do you always play events together as a team or do you do individual events? Also, you guys must spend an amazing amount of time together. How do you keep your relationship in tact?

Ninety-nine percent of the time we DJ together as a team, but once in a while we’ll do events separately. We do spend a lot of time together but we don’t usually see each other every day. We used to live together which was too much combined with DJ’ing and producing music together. We get along way better now that we don’t see each other all the time!

You’ve done remixes for many artists. I would venture to say that The Perry Twins’ remixes have helped many songs reach the top of the dance charts. Tell us about your remix work?

We’ve remixed songs for Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Kristine W, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Tony Moran, Beyoncé, and our latest remix was of Whitney Houston and Kygo’s “Higher Love” which just went to number one on the Billboard Dance Club chart.

Along with those remixes, we have topped the charts with original songs we have written and produced. These include “Activate My Body” featuring Jania, and number one on the Billboard Club Play Chart, “Bad Bad Boy” featuring Niki Haris. Our current single with Harper Starling, Euphoria, recently reached number one on The Billboard Dance Charts.

What has changed over the years in the world of DJing and what inspires you keep doing it?

There are definitely more DJs now than when we started so there’s more competition to keep you working hard to stay on the top of your game. The music keeps evolving too and the equipment has changed but we’re still just as passionate about DJ’ing and it has stayed fresh and exciting for us. The party people on the dance floor keep us inspired. We feed off of the energy.

You’ve also done some work on TV as well. What were some of those projects?

We’ve made many TV and film appearances including the musical comedy “Waiting In The Wings”, national TV commercials and on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” with Kylie Minogue.

What’s coming in the near future for you guys in the way of projects and appearances.

We have been working on new remixes for Natasha Bedingfield, Dirty Werk, Willie Tay, and Hilary Roberts. We also have new original songs we’re writing and producing with Quinn Coleman. Look for us at some of our upcoming DJ gigs in San Francisco, Ft Lauderdale, and Atlanta, along with one of our favorite places to DJ, The Chapel in West Hollywood.
