Travel time is adventure time!  Creating adventures whether near or far is an act of self-care and an opportunity for self-expansion and self-expression. To see the world, visit friends, and explore new places is fulfilling the desire to experience this thing we call life. There is so much to see, so much to do and enjoy. The world truly is our playground if we choose to play.

Let’s consider what’s important to remember when you step out into your travel adventures.  First thing, before you even begin to pack your bag, pause and think, “what is my intention for this trip?” Then listen for the answer.  If the answer you hear is, “to relax, to explore, to go connect with family,” or anything else of this nature, then your travel is intended for pure enjoyment!  So, since you are aiming for fun, be watchful not to pick up expectation and take it with you. Any expectation of how the outcome is to be will only take you out of the present moment and lead you to disappointment. This is the reason setting a clear desire and intention to have a magnificent, smooth and joy filled adventure is so important. It keeps you flexible for change while you travel, and open to the unexpected, which just might be more fun than you even knew.

Second step is to prepare your bag. Packing our bag for an adventure can be exciting and is necessary before we take flight.  Not sure about you, but up until now I have tended to wait until the last minute and then pack too much.  Usually doing all I can to squish the bag closed and get it zipped shut.  My intention this year is to remember to be more conscious in what I pack with me, to lighten my load and only take what I truly need. That way I have more availability to receive the blessings and surprises of the trip. Thirdly, leave our emotional worries at home. The airline may say there is a 50-pound limit, but they are talking about the weight of the bag, not the weight of our worries. So, be sure to unload the worry, unleash the guilt, and give yourself the gift of truly letting go. The work will still be there when you return, the house will still be there and possibly still need to be cleaned, and the bills will still be sitting on the table. Your opportunity is to take a breath, bless the house, the bills and the work, and turn towards your original “yes” you stated when you planned this adventure is still there for you.  Now let it lead!

Lastly, but not least, here are a few good packing and travel tips to include as well:

* Stay flexible.

* Stay in the present moment.

* Stand in appreciation.

* Be willing to see with fresh new eyes and be open for the miraculous.

Now, your packing is done, and you are ready to go. Take a breath, enjoy your journey, and remember, it is a precious life so don’t miss the adventure!
