Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet at The Art Theatre

Tuesday, February 14th @ The Art Theatre Long Beach (2025 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA) 8pm.

The Art Theatre is laying it on thick for the couples this Valentine’s Day. Celebrate your love (or drink alone at home with SVU reruns like me) with a romantic screening of Baz Luhnrmann’s 1996 classic adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Featuring Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio, this is the classic story of Romeo and Juliet, set in a modern-day city of Verona Beach. The Montagues and Capulets are two feuding families, whose children meet and fall in love. They have to hide their love from the world because they know that their parents will not allow them to be together. There are obstacles on the way, like Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, and Romeo’s friend Mercutio, and many fights. But although it is set in modern times, it is still the same timeless story of the “star crossed lovers”. (Runtime is 2 hours and 10 minutes.)Champagne service to your seat will be available for an additional charge as well. Or grab a bottle of vino next door at Art du Vin! General Admission Tickets (seating is on a first come, first served basis) are $11.50 and are available at www.arttheatrelongbeach.org.
