Leather-Happenings

This is the high point of Leather Contest Season as I call it and it’s great to see the contests are starting to have more than two contestants as in the last few years.  Regardless of your opinion on “Leather Contests” and “Titleholders” it’s great to see there is still an interest in stepping up and keeping that part of our history alive.  For many this can be a way of breaking out of their shell and taking on a new adventure.

Our Board reflects the clubs, groups and individuals within the leather, fetish, kink, gear and motorcycling communities.”  The Alliance also offers education through their member organizations which you can find on their website www.leatheralliance.org.

The week actually kicks off with the 4th Annual Community Roast/Tribute to Donna Sachet on Friday, February 27 at BeatBox.  As the “Leather Empress” Absolute Empress 30 of San Francisco, Donna Sachet has been a big supporter of the leather community by having emceed the Mr. SF Leather Contest for many years as well has hosted the titleholders brunch at Folsom every year.  Congratulations on a well-deserved tribute and recognition by the San Francisco Community.

During the week there will be several seminar events one of which is a PReP Symposium by Mr. LA Leather Eric Leue on March 5 at Mr. S Leather from 7-10PM.   The Contest will take place on March 7 at the Hotel Whitcomb.  Rounding out the week is the SF Leather Community Awards on March 8.  Previously known as the ICF Motorcycle Awards they have been honoring Groups and Individuals who create and support communities in San Francisco through events and projects since 1965.  This is the longest-running Leather Community Awards in the world.

I do want to acknowledge two titleholders In NorCal that I had missed previously.  Mr. Santa Clara County Leather 2014, Frank and Ms. Santa Clara County Leather 2014, Diana Heideman for winning their titles last November.  Frank says his platform for my title year is: “Bridging the Changing Faces of Leather & Kink.”  With that check out his website and see all the great events they have already had and look for any new events coming up at www.mrsccl2014.com
