Hello Gorgeous! This month’s issue of GED is a wonderful honor, and of course a fierce exhibition of a few of the amazing artists that the Southern California Drag community has to offer. SoCal has been home to fabulous shows for decades, and these days you can find multiple shows each night throughout our community. From the hard fighting queens of the Imperial Courts, starting drag shows over 40 years ago, to today’s top stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race, the entertainment and female impersonation scene has become a driving force in SoCal nightlife.

This month the gorgeous Delta Work and Morgan McMichaels joined me at the studios of famed Pin-Up Photographer Keesha Langdon with Girlie Show Photography. She and her staff welcomed us into their amazing studios in Huntington Beach for an afternoon of beauty. Truly a “day with the girls”. The results are fan-tastic and I would highly encourage you to treat yourselves to a transformative day at their studios.

Through the years of sisterhood and insanity, exciting careers have blossomed on the nightlife circuit. Some of our early shows together included the famed OZZ nightclub in Buena Park (now an on-ramp to the 5 Freeway); years of fun times at the Boom Boom Room in Laguna Beach; VIP Nightclub in Riverside; Fire Island and Ripples in Long Beach; and Hamburger Mary’s in Long Beach and West Hollywood.  The years of growing support and attention for drag performers have allowed us to hon our craft and develop into even more enthralling personas.

In search of astounding lip-synch talents and unquestionable beauty?  The always on point Delta Work is your girl! This “Living Pin-Up” has always fostered a love of vintage glamour and beauty. Her impeccable appearance and finely polished performances have enthralled me over the last decade and beyond. The world at large became aware of this talented diva on Season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but she has enjoyed a rabid following in Southern California for many years. Working it out nearly every night of the week, locally and touring, she definitely stays busy and can be found working all over the Southland, including with the famed Dreamgirls Revue.  Delta is also active in fundraising for various charities and she recently earned the title Miss Gay Pride Long Beach 2013.

Watching the energetic acrobatics of Morgan McMichaels, is enough to leave anyone exhausted, especially myself. That wildly entertaining diva has been tearing it up across the nation, since her appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2. But far before her television notoriety Morgan was lighting stages on fire. You can see her on a weekly basis with the famed Dreamgirls Revue, and hosting her own shows around Southern California.  Morgan is also focused on giving back to the community and is active with the Trevor Project and GLADD.

As the Entertainment Director for Hamburger Mary’s Long Beach, and West Hollywood, I have the pleasure of welcoming these talented ladies and so many more on a weekly basis for a wide variety of shows and events, from Latin Divas to Drag KINGS.  Starlette Revue, hosted by yours truly, happens on Wednesday nights in Long Beach and Thursday nights in West Hollywood.  Come out and enjoy the wonder in person! Support your local Drag artists! We hope to see you at one of our shows very soon.

XOXO Jewels
