With the majority of characters in this series being named after famous literary authors and/or characters in their works, Bungō Sutorei Doggusu or Literary Stray Dogs is sure to peak many a bookworm’s attention. Based off the Japanese manga series of the same name, written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, the manga was adapted to anime by Bones anime studio. The show fills us in on the daily lives of the agents of the Armed Detective Agency (“ADA”) as they solve mysteries and do odd jobs for the mob. We soon find out that the members of the ADA each have unique and sometimes bizarre special abilities. The main character, Atsushi Nakajima, is introduced as a homeless orphan who was kicked out of the orphanage as a result of not being able to control his ability and later becomes a member of ADA.  The characters are brought to life not only by their individual personalities, but in beautifully drawn action sequences thrown into the exciting story line. The series was separated into two seasons with each season being 12 episodes. Available with subtitles on Hulu.
